Reading

This past month, we had a lot of fun focusing on comparing and contrasting. Students compared themselves to Martin Luther King,Jr., Ruby Bridges, and other characters from their own literature books. We also looked at root words with suffixes and prefixes, along with their meanings, to help us better understand word meaning.

Writing

After working on a Martin Luther King, Jr. timeline together and creating personal timelines independently, we started researching animals. The students were so excited to choose an animal and use the computers in the lab to gather information. Using graphic organizers the students collected information and then made a brochure with illustrations and informative writing. We enjoyed learning about some amazing animals!

Math

The students have had some fun working in small groups to measure items around the room. They have discovered the importance of using a Standard Form of measurement when measuring. We continue to solve problems by working together and thinking critically. The students have enjoyed recording important math info in their math journals.
